All Entry, Service and Cargo doors may be opened / closed in winds up to 40 kts. Entry and Service doors may remain latched open up to 65 kts without structural damage.

On GND

The visual inspection is an (M) procedure, not (O): a qualified technician is required by the letter of the MEL.

In FLT

An ENTRY / SERVICE DOOR OPEN indication in flight may be treated as spurious if there is no visible or audible sign the door is not properly closed. Check the Door Handle position.

EXIT SIGN
See Exit Unserviceable for the EXIT sign and associated exit emergency lighting.
GUST LOCK — hold-open latch
On GND

The MEL allows dispatch with the Latch Release Lever inoperative: you must then use another method or tool to release the hold-open latch (gust lock). The lever is only a small part of the assembly.

You cannot dispatch with the latch itself inoperative! The hold-open latch is required to keep the door properly open for evacuation.

You can work around this by treating the entire door as inoperative, at the cost of a passenger reduction — continue with Exit Unserviceable.

ESCAPE SLIDES

The escape-slide gauge may read below the green band after a long flight in cold OAT. A similar low reading can occur after prolonged parking with the slide in direct sun. In all cases, pressure must be back to normal before the next takeoff.

When boarding, look at the floor and check that the Entry/Service Door Floor Drains are clear. These are two small holes in the door-frame sill, meant to drain rainwater that entered during boarding or catering.

A blocked drain can let water seep into the E&E bay and damage electronics. It happens often — point these holes out to the cabin crew.

CARGO AIRCRAFT (737-BCF)

Ces appareils ont donc une NNC séparée AFT ENTRY / SERVICE DOOR WARNING.On a freighter, you may not be able to reach and inspect doors at the aft main deck. Those aircraft therefore have a separate AFT ENTRY / SERVICE DOOR WARNING NNC.
