RTO n’est pas une panne moteur après V1 (SOP 4.3). Décision PIC avant V1. Table PIC/SIC au SOP p.149–150 — pas une boîte memory QRH.

The PIC has the sole responsibility for the decision to reject the takeoff. The decision must be made in time to start the rejected takeoff manoeuvre by V1. If the decision is to reject the takeoff, the PIC must clearly announce “REJECT”, immediately start the rejected takeoff manoeuvre, and assume control of the aircraft. If the SIC is making the takeoff, the SIC must maintain control of the aircraft until the PIC makes a positive input to the controls.

If a flight crew member calls out a non-normal situation and a reject is not justified, the PIC will call "CONTINUE".

Prior to 80 knots, the takeoff should be rejected for any of the following

Above 80 knots and prior to V1, the takeoff should be rejected for any of the following

During the takeoff, the crew member observing the non-normal situation will immediately call it out as clearly as possible.

When a Rejected Takeoff is initiated in the following conditions: Speed above 100 knots · Gross Takeoff Weight above Maximum Landing Weight · Outside Temperatures above 20°C — the aircraft should be stopped and remain on the runway until the Brake Cooling Schedule has been reviewed or Emergency Services have evaluated the aircraft brake temperature. In these conditions, it is acceptable to coordinate with ATC to make a short taxi off the runway onto an adjacent highspeed taxiway if the manoeuvre does not require a sharp turn.

Rejected Takeoff — PIC / SIC (SOP p.149)

Pilot-in-command

Announce: “REJECT”
Without delay: Simultaneously close the thrust levers, disengage the autothrottle and apply maximum manual wheel brakes or verify operation of RTO autobrake. If RTO autobrake is selected, monitor system performance and apply manual wheel brakes if the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light illuminates or deceleration is not adequate.
Raise the SPEED BRAKE lever.
Apply reverse thrust up to the maximum amount consistent with conditions.
Continue maximum braking until certain the airplane will stop on the runway.
When stopping is assured: Start movement of the reverse thrust levers to reach the reverse idle detent before taxi speed. After the engines are at reverse idle, move the reverse thrust levers to full down.

Second-in-command

Verify actions as follows:
Thrust levers closed · Autothrottle disengaged · Maximum Braking/Autobrakes RTO or call: “NO AUTOBRAKES”
Verify Speedbrake lever UP and call: “SPEEDBRAKES UP”. If Speedbrake lever not UP, call: “NO SPEEDBRAKES”.
Reverse thrust applied. Call: “REVERSER NORMAL” or “NO REVERSER ENGINE #” (Engine number indicating Reverse not operating)
Call out any omitted action items.
When stopping is assured: Call out 60 knots. Select flaps to 40. Communicate the reject decision to ATC.

When the airplane is stopped (SOP p.150)

Pilot-in-command

Parking brakeSet
Advise cabin “REMAIN SEATED” (×3)
Use all means available to evaluate the situation.
Call for the appropriate drill and/or checklist as required.
No Evacuation Situation: Ensure the appropriate drill is complete and continue to evaluate the situation to determine if an evacuation is necessary. Establish communication with the cabin.
Communicate with ATC or other aircraft to obtain any information regarding the condition of the airplane (presence of external fire). Review Brake Cooling Schedule.
Evacuation Situation: Call: “EVACUATION CHECKLIST”.

Second-in-command

Carry out the drill and/or checklist as requested.
Evacuation Situation: Do the Evacuation Checklist.

Refer to the FCTM (Takeoff and Initial Climb/Rejected Takeoff Decision).
