Fire Protection
QRH 8.15
NOTE — If a suitable airport is not immediately available, maintain cabin altitude at 20,000 ft MSL minimum to deplete oxygen supply to the fire, until descent to the first suitable airport can be made.
NOTE — If the fire situation becomes uncontrollable, consider an immediate landing.
NOTE — It is possible that smoke generated on the main deck forward cargo compartment will cause a fire detection in the forward and/or aft lower cargo compartment. If this condition exists, follow the Cargo Fire – FWD/AFT Cargo Compartments checklist (page 8.27) after the preceding steps of this checklist have been performed.
15 When at approximately 50 - 60 nm from the runway and at FL200, start an expedited, uninterrupted descent to the lowest safe altitude or 3,000 feet AAE, whichever is higher.
Descend at VMO/MMO with the speed brakes extended.
NOTE — Maintain VMO/MMO until 15 nm from the runway.
Plan to level off 15 nm from the runway and at 3,000 feet AAE.
Do not delay the approach and landing.
Upon departing FL200, in preparation for landing, ensure that the airplane completely depressurized.
Use autobrake MAX for landing.
