For each lavatory, lavatory fire extinguisher system may be inoperative provided associated lavatory smoke detection system operates normally.

(M)(O) For each lavatory, lavatory fire extinguisher system may be inoperative provided: a) Lavatory waste receptacle is empty, b) Associated lavatory door is locked closed and placarded: “INOPERATIVE - DO NOT ENTER”, and c) Lavatory is used only by crewmembers. NOTE: These provisions are not intended to prohibit lavatory use or inspection by crewmembers.
26-15-01C — Non-Passenger Operations

(O) For each lavatory, the lavatory fire extinguishing system may be inoperative for non-passenger carrying operations provided: a) Crew members are the only occupants of the aircraft, and b) Crew members have been briefed as to which lavatory fire extinguisher system(s) is/are inoperative.

Apply placard on affected Lavatory Door and waste receptacle access if applicable.
4. Journey log / other instructions (texte MEL) :
Print the following information in the journey log sheet.
(AFFECTED) LAVATORY FIRE EXTINGUISHING INOP.
If associated smoke detector system also inoperative, add placard to lavatory door stating:
INOPERATIVE DO NOT ENTER
5. Respecter toutes les restrictions du MEL — ne pas en inventer.
(O) OPERATIONS PROCEDURES — texte MEL :
Make sure that the associated lavatory is kept locked and is not entered except for use or inspection
by crew members.
(M) MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES — texte MEL (maintenance ; l’équipage vérifie que c’est fait) :
For all operations except non-passenger, if the associated lavatory smoke detector is inoperative:
c) Empty the lavatory waste receptacle.
d) Lock the lavatory door closed.
c) If the smoke detector and fire extinguisher are both inoperative advise the flight crew that
the lavatory is not to be used and that nobody enters except for inspection.
