1. Confirmer l’item, la catégorie et le nombre requis dans le MEL officiel (lien PDF).
2. Appliquer les procédures (O) et/ou (M) du MEL avant dispatch — texte officiel ci-dessous.
3. Placard (texte MEL) :
Apply stickers adjacent to APU Start switch and APU Fire switch as applicable.
4. Journey log / other instructions (texte MEL) :
Print the following information in the journey log sheet.
APU FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM INOP - DO NOT USE APU
or
APU DET INOP LIGHT INOP
or
EXTERNAL WARNING (HORN) (LIGHT) INOP
5. Respecter toutes les restrictions du MEL — ne pas en inventer.
(O) OPERATIONS PROCEDURES — texte MEL :
26-08-01 Single and Dual Loop INOP
1. Dispatch is not allowed if the APU is required by other procedures.
2. APU must not be started.
NOTE: When performing the Flight Crew Operations Manual Supplementary Procedures - Engines,
APU “Battery Start” procedure, the fire warning bell may not sound and the master FIRE
WARN lights may not illuminate.
26-08-02 APU DET INOP Light
NOTE: If the APU DET INOP light does not illuminate but the APU Fire Warning switch illuminates
during OVERHEAT/FIRE test, the APU fire detection system is operating normally. The APU
can be used if the OVERHEAT/FIRE test is performed before each APU start.
OPERATIONS NOTE
Prior to departure, verify with Dispatch that suitable arrangements have been made at destination,
alternate and any technical stops (if required) to handle any anticipated ground service
requirements. If ground power or adequate air will not be available, particular attention must be
given to refuelling, de-icing and cross bleed start requirements.
CAUTION:
IF APU NOT USED, CREW MUST HAVE ADEQUATE TIME TO BRIEF FOR
SUPPLEMENTARY PROCEDURES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE STARTING, PUSHBACK,
COMMUNICATION WITH GROUND CONTROL, DE-ICING AND OTHER GROUND
HANDLING CONSIDERATIONS.
(M) MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES — texte MEL (maintenance ; l’équipage vérifie que c’est fait) :
None required.
MAINTENANCE NOTES
1. To prevent nuisance/false warnings, the FIRE PROTECTION DETECTION APU circuit breaker can
be opened and collared. With this circuit breaker open, the MASTER CAUTION lights and the
OVHT/DET system annunciator light do not illuminate during the Fault/Inop test. The APU DET
INOP light will remain illuminated and the MASTER CAUTION lights and the OVHT/DET system
annunciator light will illuminate during a system annunciator panel recall.
2. It is vitally important that Dispatch be advised as soon as possible when dispatching with an APU
(or some function thereof) inoperative. This will allow maximum time to make the required
ground handling arrangements.
