M)(O) Any in excess of those required by CAR 705.93 may be inoperative or missing provided: a) Inoperative fire extinguisher(s) is removed from the passenger cabin, flight deck, or class E/F cargo compartment that is accessible to crew members during flight, and its location is placarded INOPERATIVE, or it is removed from the installed location, secured out of sight and the fire extinguisher and its installed location are placarded INOPERATIVE, b) Required distribution is maintained in the passenger compartment on each deck, the flight deck and each class E/F cargo compartment that is accessible to crew members during flight, as applicable, and c) Procedures are established and used to alert crew members of missing portable fire extinguishers. 5. Respecter toutes les restrictions du MEL — ne pas en inventer.
(O) OPERATIONS PROCEDURES — texte MEL :
1. Ensure required distribution of serviceable extinguishers is maintained throughout the airplane, 1
in the flight deck and 1 in supernumerary compartment.
OPERATIONS NOTES
CARs 705.93 requires the following minimum number of hand-held fire extinguishers:|
C-FTUZ
Flight deck: At least one
Supernumerary area: At least one.
C-FTUW, C-FTUY
Flight deck: At least one
Supernumerary area: At least one
Aft Galley: At least one
Passenger compartment: At least three, conveniently located and uniformly distributed
C-FTUZ, C-FTUW, C-FTUY
At least two hand-held fire extinguishers shall contain Halon 1211
(bromochlorodifluoromethane) or its equivalent.
A stowage compartment or stowage container that contains a hand-held fire extinguisher
shall be clearly marked as to its contents. throughout the passenger compartment.
(M) MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES — texte MEL (maintenance ; l’équipage vérifie que c’est fait) :
1. Stow the out-of-service extinguisher in a place (possibly in a bag) where it will not be used by
mistake until it can be removed from the airplane.
2. Ensure required distribution of serviceable extinguishers is maintained throughout the airplane (1
in the flight deck and 1 in supernumerary compartment).
