(M)(O) Any in excess of those required by CARs 705.89 may be inoperative or missing provided: a) Inoperative megaphone is removed from the passenger cabin and its location is placarded INOPERATIVE, or it is removed from the installed location, secured out of sight and the megaphone and its installed location are placarded INOPERATIVE. b) Required distribution is maintained, and c) Procedures are established and used to alert crew members of inoperative or missing megaphones. NOTE: CARs 705.89 states that, for 61 to 99 passenger seats, one megaphone is required.

5. Respecter toutes les restrictions du MEL — ne pas en inventer.

(O) OPERATIONS PROCEDURES — texte MEL :

Cabin crew to verify required distribution is maintained: 90 passenger SEATS = 1 megaphone required per CAR 705.89.

(M) MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES — texte MEL (maintenance ; l’équipage vérifie que c’est fait) :

Apply sticker to handgrip of megaphone and to installed location. Identify, placard and stow unserviceable microphones. The serviceable megaphone has to be readily available to the crewmember assigned to direct emergency evacuation.
