Apply placard on or adjacent to ELT panel. Placard for ELT inoperative to include date ELT was removed/deactivated.

Print the following information in the journey log sheet. ELT INOP (REMOVED) or ELT REMOTE SWITCH INOP

23-12-02A ELT INOP Deactivate the inoperative ELT (AMM 23-00-00/901): 1. Gain access to the ELT in the passenger cabin ceiling. 2. For ACR/Artex model ELTs, remove the ELT and install a dated placard stating "ELT not installed" in view of pilot. 3. For ELTA and Honeywell model ELTs, set the ELT (LRU) front panel switch to OFF. 23-12-02-01 Remote ELT Switch Inop: NOTE 1: Depending on ELT model, remote ELT switch nomenclature may be ARM or ARMED. NOTE 2: If remote ELT switch is failed so that the ELT system is activated, deactivate the ELT system and dispatch per MEL 23-12-02A or 23-12-02C. If ELT does not activate with the remote ELT switch set to ON, deactivate the remote ELT switch (AMM 23-00-00/901). 1. Placard the inoperative remote ELT switch. 2. Set the remote ELT switch to the armed position. a) For ACR/Artex and Honeywell model ELTs, set the remote ELT switch to ARM. b) For ELTA model ELTs, set the remote ELT switch to ARMED. 4. Set the ELT (LRU) front panel switch to the armed position. a) For ACR/Artex model ELTs, set the ELT (LRU) front panel switch to OFF. b) For ELTA model ELTs, set the ELT (LRU) front panel switch to ARMED. c) For Honeywell model ELTs, set the ELT (LRU) front panel switch to ARM.
