14 Start a descent to the lowest safe altitude, or 10,000 ft whichever is higher. Use the speedbrakes to increase the rate of descent, if needed. Monitor cabin altitude and rate.

R RECIR FAN switch → AUTO

L RECIRC FAN switch → OFF

Minimize the flight deck lighting intensity.

Open the flight deck door.

During daylight : Use flight deck window shades, as needed. Instruct cabin crew to close cabin window shades.

Instruct the cabin crew to : Dim cabin lighting. Turn off inflight entertainment systems.

CAB/UTIL switch → OFF

IFE/PASS SEAT switch → OFF

When at level off : Maintain 290 knots minimum. Flight deck and passenger cabin temperatures can increase rapidly at speeds below 290 knots.
