Condition
Une ou plusieurs des situations suivantes se produisent :
• L’altitude cabine ne peut pas être contrôlée.
• Une descente rapide est nécessaire.
Announce the emergency descent. The captain will advise the cabin crew, on the PA system, of impending rapid descent, “EMERGENCY DESCENT, REMAIN SEATED” (3 times). The first officer will advise ATC and obtain the area altimeter setting.

1. FASTEN BELTS → ONCeintures attachées
2. Without delay, descend to the lowest safe altitude or 10,000 feet, whichever is higher.Descendre sans délai à l’altitude sûre la plus basse ou 10 000 ft, la plus élevée des deux
3. ENGINE START switches (both) → CONTENGINE START switches sur CONT
4. Thrust levers (both) → Reduce thrust to minimum or as needed for anti-iceRéduire la poussée au minimum ou selon besoin anti-ice
5. Speedbrake → FLIGHT DETENTSpeedbrake au cran FLIGHT DETENT
If structural integrity is in doubt, limit speed as much as possible and avoid high manoeuvring loads.
Set target speed to MMO/VMO.
When approaching the level off altitude: Smoothly lower the SPEED BRAKE lever to the DOWN detent and level off. Add thrust and stabilize on altitude and airspeed.
Crew oxygen regulators → Normal
Flight crew must use oxygen when cabin altitude is above 10,000 feet. To conserve oxygen, move the regulator to Normal.
ENGINE START switches (both) → As needed
The new course of action is based on weather, oxygen, fuel remaining and available airports. Use of long-range cruise may be needed.
