Révision Tail Strike

Phase TO / LDG

LDG LAS RWY 26L. FO PF, CDB PM puis takeover pour sortie piste.

Attitude / V / rotate

Colonne nose-up ~4 s avant 1er TD → pitch 7° au WOW. Bounce (pitch ↓ 3,7°). 2e TD : pitch 8,2°, 2,4 g. Vref proche nominal (équipage).

Facteur clé

Flare : assiette non maintenue correctement (cause probable NTSB) → bounce + pitch excessif 2e toucher.

Contexte

United Airlines UA2136, Boeing 737-924ER N66831, Washington Dulles → Las Vegas Harry Reid. 154 occupants.

Déroulement

Approche stabilisée 1500/1000/500 ft ; AP/AT déconnectés ~1600 ft.

Flare nose-up ; bounce ; second toucher dur ; CDB prend pour vacate.

Inspection : skid + dommages structure primaire AR (PSE à remplacer).

Facteurs / causes

NTSB probable cause : FO failure to maintain proper pitch attitude during flare → bounce + TS.

Conséquences

0 blessé. Dommage substantiel fuselage AR. Accident NTSB (enquête ~9 mois).

Leçons 737

• Flare : viser assiette cible sans « tirer » tardif excessif.

• Bounce : prioriser GA si 2e contact douteux ; éviter pitch > limite TS.

• 900ER : marge pitch TS plus faible qu’un -700 — discipline attitude.

• Comparer UA2498 IAH (même pattern bounce/flare).
